175 - Designing for Taurus Season: Grounding, Beauty & Sensory Rituals for Your Home

Published on: 13th May, 2025

This episode is for anyone who’s been craving a slower pace, a deeper connection to home, and a little more beauty in the everyday. As we step into Taurus season, I’m inviting you to look at your space—not just as a backdrop, but as an active part of your well-being.

Taurus energy is grounded, sensual, and rooted in beauty and value. It’s about slowing down, enjoying life’s pleasures, and surrounding yourself with what truly matters. In this episode, I walk you through how to design for this powerful energy in a way that’s accessible and intentional. I’ll guide you through Feng Shui tips for activating your wealth corner, share the essential oils and crystals that support Taurus season, and offer simple, luxurious upgrades you can bring into your space right now—like cozy throws, bath rituals, flower arrangements, and grounding materials.

We also dive into journaling prompts to help you reconnect with your space and ask yourself:

What feels indulgent?

Where do I feel most grounded?

What does abundance really look like for me—and does my space reflect that?

Whether you're designing a full room or just creating a small ritual around your morning tea, this episode is a reminder that beauty is a portal to alignment. Taurus asks us to stop rushing and start feeling. So let’s design a space that works with that rhythm. If you're navigating change, craving clarity, or just want to feel more rooted at home—this one's for you.

Mentioned in the Episode:

The Flower Oracle: Daffodil card (patience, beginnings, vitality)

Essential Oils: Rose, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood

Crystals: Citrine, Pyrite, Jade, Garnet

Rituals: Morning tea, bath time, setting your kitchen as an altar

Hey there.

Speaker A:

Welcome back to the holistic Interior Design Podcast.

Speaker A:

I am your host and your guide and your designer, Rachel Lorraine Crawford.

Speaker A:

Before we get started today, I want to remind you all that we are taking your design questions and dilemmas right here on the podcast.

Speaker A:

You can submit those@speakpipe.com forward/design H I D.

Speaker A:

And today we're talking all about Taurus season.

Speaker A:

We're designing for Taurus season, which is going to embody beauty, abundance, and just sensory groundedness.

Speaker A:

Before we get started, I'm going to go ahead and light our candle here.

Speaker A:

Setting intention to connect with Taurus in our homes and in our lives.

Speaker A:

If you get this candle to start, all right, and then we are going to pull a card.

Speaker A:

So today I am pulling from the flower oracle.

Speaker A:

I thought that was going to be a beautiful deck to play with since it was all flowers, which was super connected with Taurus energy.

Speaker A:

Let's see what flower we get today.

Speaker A:

And this is daffodil.

Speaker A:

Patience, beginnings and vitality.

Speaker A:

I absolutely adore daffodils.

Speaker A:

They always come in, I feel like in the middle of March, just after winter, kind of giving us some hope, and the beginning of spring.

Speaker A:

So just really blossoming into that space.

Speaker A:

This card also features a.

Speaker A:

A snail, which I absolutely love.

Speaker A:

And that, to me, is reminding us to slow down, take it easy, no need to rush, which is exactly Taurus.

Speaker A:

So taurus season for:

Speaker A:

And this energy is a fixed Earth element.

Speaker A:

So it's all about being slow, being steady.

Speaker A:

It's very practical, it's reliable.

Speaker A:

It's also very sensual and deeply connected to beauty and wealth and worth.

Speaker A:

So in this episode, I just wanted to share with you some things that you can do to really enhance and embrace this energy of Taurus.

Speaker A:

We've got the sun in Taurus, which is an amazing time, right?

Speaker A:

We have the sun goes through all 12 signs, and it's only in that sign for a month during the year.

Speaker A:

So this is the time to really harness that energy with Taurus.

Speaker A:

It is ruled by the planet of Venus, which also rules Libra.

Speaker A:

So that's going to kind of tie into those two signs.

Speaker A:

Venus is the planet of love, its beauty, its pleasure, and its value.

Speaker A:

This is going to be especially important for those of you that do have a sun in Taurus, which just means that you, your zodiac sign, your.

Speaker A:

Your main sign is Taurus.

Speaker A:

If you have a moon in Taurus, this could also really benef you and your rising sign.

Speaker A:

Those are your top three with Taurus.

Speaker A:

Not that you won't, you know, appreciate or gain any value from here if you're not in Taurus.

Speaker A:

It's for everybody, obviously, but also look in your chart to see personally, you know, what other planets you might have in Taurus or what house Taurus is in for you, because we all have each sign in our chart somewhere, so it'd be really interesting to see how you connect with that.

Speaker A:

Taurus is going to govern the neck, the throat, the chest and your voice.

Speaker A:

So this is a great time to speak lovingly about ourselves in our space, or even speaking lovely, lovely things to our space.

Speaker A:

This is going to be a time to encourage a little bit of slowness.

Speaker A:

We just came out of Aries season, which is, you know, fire and action and getting things done.

Speaker A:

So it's like we've done all these things in Aries season and now's the time to kind of be slow and steady, practice and just enjoy, you know, life's pleasures and what it's bringing to us during this season.

Speaker A:

It's going to be a great time to ask, you know, what's worth investing in?

Speaker A:

What do I truly value?

Speaker A:

This is a great time to re examine your values and how you want to reconnect that.

Speaker A:

It's also connecting with the luxury and the sensualness.

Speaker A:

Think of, you know, soft fabrics and comfort food, grounding rituals during this time, long baths and quality over quantity.

Speaker A:

Taurus is all about quality for sure.

Speaker A:

So if you're not sure where to start coming into Taurus season, I've got a few journal prompts here.

Speaker A:

So if you want to grab a journal, pause the episode, this will kind of get you into the zone, you know, tapping into your space.

Speaker A:

So our first question is, what part of my home feels most indulgent right now?

Speaker A:

What part of my home feels most indulgent?

Speaker A:

And then the second half of that question is, what needs more love?

Speaker A:

So just really tapping in to your home, taking a look at it, seeing what might be neglected, and then seeing what is, you know, fully indulgent.

Speaker A:

Our next question is, where in my home do I feel most grounded?

Speaker A:

Number three is what does abundance mean to me and does my space reflect that?

Speaker A:

What does abundance mean to me and does my space reflect that?

Speaker A:

And lastly, what's one pleasure I can invite into my daily routine?

Speaker A:

What's one pleasure I can invite into my daily routine?

Speaker A:

That's a fun one.

Speaker A:

Alrighty.

Speaker A:

So with Taurus, this is going to be all about luxury, touches so really tapping into our senses.

Speaker A:

You're going to want to create moments of physical pleasure in your home.

Speaker A:

Taurus thrives on the senses.

Speaker A:

So you can either take that first question of, you know, what's the most indulgent space in my home, or what needs more love, and then see how you can include some of these luxurious touches.

Speaker A:

Number one is upgrading your sheets or adding even just a simple throw to your bed.

Speaker A:

Your bed is such an important space in your home, and if you don't have sheets that you love, I definitely would encourage you to get a new set of sheets, even just bringing in some sort of a cozy texture.

Speaker A:

Or throw either on your bed, on your sofa, on your favorite chair.

Speaker A:

Like that's really just going to add that luxury vibe to your space.

Speaker A:

Also including some essential oils.

Speaker A:

So Taurus is ruled by Venus, which is love.

Speaker A:

I recommend oils like rose and ylang ylang, or even jasmine.

Speaker A:

Or you can go into the more earthy senses, which could be sandalwood, patchouli, vetiver, those things that are really grounding.

Speaker A:

And then I love this, getting yourself some flowers.

Speaker A:

Taurus loves real grounded beauty, natural beauty, even if it's just, you know, some flowers from your garden, going to the farmer's market and being really intentional about bringing flowers into your home to beautify your space.

Speaker A:

The next space that you can add some Taurus touches is in your kitchen and dining room.

Speaker A:

So using your kitchen or your dining room as an altar of pleasure.

Speaker A:

Taurus loves food, loves tastes and loves nourishment.

Speaker A:

It's really grounding, taking in food and drink.

Speaker A:

So you can reorganize your kitchen or setting a beautiful dining table, display fresh fruit or herbs, any kind of handmade ceramics in that space.

Speaker A:

Like really creating an altar in your kitchen, and then create ritual around your morning tea, more around your coffee, or if you have a nightcap or a tea or some sort of elixir that you drink at night, making that a routine.

Speaker A:

And then, of course, adding candles, playlists to your eating space, fresh flowers, all of those things.

Speaker A:

Our next area that you can bring Taurus energy into is the bathroom.

Speaker A:

And I definitely recommend taking long baths during Taurus season, adding rose petals or bath salts and oils to your bath, keeping crystals nearby your bath.

Speaker A:

Rose quartz is really beautiful.

Speaker A:

Jade or green aventurine.

Speaker A:

And then, you know, next to your bath, having a stool or a tray that has a favorite book of yours, a favorite drink if it's some tea or wine.

Speaker A:

And then, of course, having candle, a candle next to you in the bath, another Way that you can harness this energy is connecting with the wealth area of your home in feng shui.

Speaker A:

And that is going to be your southeast corner.

Speaker A:

Now, this could be the southeast corner of your home.

Speaker A:

It could be the southeast corner of your office, southeast corner of your desk, your room, like, whatever it is.

Speaker A:

And that's going to connect with prosperity and abundance.

Speaker A:

So definitely have, like, a healthy rounded leaf plant.

Speaker A:

Even a jade plant would be beautiful.

Speaker A:

A money tree or apothos.

Speaker A:

Those are really easy to take care of.

Speaker A:

The crystals that you can enhance that energy with is citrine, pyrite, and green jade.

Speaker A:

Those are connected with wealth and prosperity.

Speaker A:

You can also include, you know, other symbols of abundance in that space, Whether it's a jeweled box, some sort of a gold object in affirmation, you know, gold coins, whatever those things are that connect you with prosperity.

Speaker A:

And one of the questions that you can ask while being in this space is, what does abundance feel like to me, and how can I make that more visible in your space?

Speaker A:

Maybe there's certain things that really correspond to wealth and abundance that you want to bring into your space that no one else associates with that.

Speaker A:

We've got our next space of earth energy and just grounding.

Speaker A:

So connecting with grounding and centering.

Speaker A:

Taurus is extremely grounded.

Speaker A:

It's a fixed earth sign.

Speaker A:

It's the most earthly of all the earth signs that we've got.

Speaker A:

So incorporating natural materials into your space with clay, stone, wood, plants, this is a great time to rearrange your furniture so that it feels more grounded and solid.

Speaker A:

So putting your furniture up against a wall, anchoring the space with an area rug, having a headboard at your bed so that you feel solid.

Speaker A:

This is also a great time to walk barefoot, place your hands in the dirt garden a little bit, spend some time outside in the plants, and then connecting with crystal energy so you can ground yourself crystals.

Speaker A:

My favorite grounding crystal is almondine garnet.

Speaker A:

It's a really dark, deep red.

Speaker A:

You can also ground yourself with smoky quartz, black tourmaline.

Speaker A:

Like, the darker stones are going to be really grounding for you.

Speaker A:

And you can have that near bed, at your altar space, at a sacred space that you can just really connect, ground yourself before, you know, moving on with your day.

Speaker A:

Another thing with Taurus is that they're super practical and they're connected, and they can create things from what you already have or create things that are abundant around you.

Speaker A:

So revisiting or repurposing an object or a piece of furniture in your home.

Speaker A:

So taking a look at maybe an old dresser or an old chair and refinishing the wood on it to create something new with it or even just repainting it, giving it new life, reupholstering a favorite chair that you have, getting in, getting it in some new fabric to again giving it new life and refresh.

Speaker A:

Polishing your silver, displaying a favorite dish, displaying a favorite family heirloom that you've had, or just going through your stuff and seeing what you have in your garage and giving it again new life.

Speaker A:

And then also just practicing gratitude and writing down things that you already love about your space and your home.

Speaker A:

And being in that space of gratitude with your space is just going to expand that high vibe energy in your space.

Speaker A:

So those are some tips that you can use to reconnect with this Taurus energy.

Speaker A:

Again, it's grounding, it's connecting with luxury.

Speaker A:

It's really feeling into the senses, connecting with your worth, your values and what you you treasure most.

Speaker A:

I'd love to know what you guys are doing for Taurus season, how you're revamping your home.
